My life before steemit?

My life before steemit revolved around my wife of 23 years, my cat, and my companies.
I own a Plumbing & Heating company in Edmonton, Alberta as well as a nanotechnology company that consumes way too much of my life. Working on that.
I love movies...love them. I would never make a good movie critic as I always find something to enjoy in them. Extra kudos to those movies with dragons or superheroes in them. Oh, and action. Explosions, guns, tanks, etc.

Through work I have been able to feel like I created something important for a lot of people. I remember the first time I threw a Christmas party for my employees. I had about 20 people at the party and it hit me that they relied on my to pay their mortgages and their kid's hockey. Now that I have been at this game for a while I know I need them way more than they need me.

And hockey....Love it. Playing, watching, discussing, video gaming it. Northern Alberta, Canada. 'nuff said.

How was I introduced to steemit?

Simple...was researching cryptocurrencies to possibly invest in. Was looking at Steemit and was intrigued. Signed up, loved the idea, enjoyed the people I first met on here and now feel like I am part of creating something else new. Hooked!! No one recommended, no one mentioned. I would mention if there was anyone but dumb luck to stumble on it.

What's your channel topic?

I love sharing a few things.

  1. Plumbing stories. I have a lot and I don't think I am the only one who thinks they are interesting.
  2. Nanotechnology. I want to educate people on a few of the things that I have learned in my years of working in the field. I find some people are scared of it but that is just because they don't understand a few things. I hope to teach people the benefits of some of it and also to beware of the dangerous ones. (yes there is)
  3. Travel pics. With my companies I have been able to see a lot of the world and have a lot of pictures burning a hole in my hard drive. figured I'd share.
  4. Fun stuff. Stuff on movies, superheroes and yes...dragons.

Your hobbies and interests?

Hockey...OH MY GOD hockey.
Movies..as mentioned.
Superheroes...as mentioned.
Reality TV and I don't mean the Big Brother kind. I am talking gold mining, crab fishing, storage locker buying, junk collecting, antique roadshow type stuff. Way too many hours but I can't get enough of it.

Your best and worst experiences here?

My best is the people I have followed and seeing the world through their words. steemit seems to free people to talk about things that they usually don't. It has drawn a few posts and discussions out of me that wold never have happened on another platform. Liberating.
The worst experience...? Not too many bad experiences yet. Frustrating maybe. Especially when I see my super-stellar post make 8 cents and some blog about the price of BTC (which I can see at any time with Bittrex always open) rakes in big cash. LOL.
I also felt I had to respond to a post that I didn't agree with. Usually I would just ignore but because I feel I am helping to build steemit I also felt I couldn't let it slide. I had to hold the author accountable. Self-righteous probably but also felt a duty to do it.

Life after steemit?

I haven't considered that.
I am hoping to find that there doesn't have to be a post-steemit apocalyptic wasteland. We are creating a community that could become a staple. I have already almost quit posting on other sites and see no reason why that wouldn't continue.
And the millions of dollars which will start to flow my way from this (LOL)...I have a dream.
My wife is a very prominent artist. She has worked very hard for her whole life and is being rewarded for it with national recognition. Through her I have come to realize I do not appreciate art as much as I should and that society as a whole has the same ignorance. Art represents more than I ever understood. History, trends, dreams, and hopes that are shared by so many. It is such an important piece of any culture and we want to help. I see too many artists unable to pursue their practice because they have no support. We want to figure out how to help. Grants, studio spaces, anything that we can help with. With the millions from steemit we might help change some artist's lives and allow their work to make this place a little more full for all. That would be life with steemit in it. Maybe not after steemit so might be killing my "entry" but I'm pretty sure it won't. If it does oh well, my dreams are more important than conformity.

That's me. Take it or leave it. Would love to hear from anyone who shares my interests.
Dragon playing hockey...just because.
