Urban Photography - Old Telephone Booth
Greetings.
I hope you all are doing fine.
Yesterday I took a walk to explore new routes and get some fresh air outside my place. During this walk, I got a lot of interesting things to share with all of you. One of those things was this old telephone booth, which was very useful in the past.
The first telephone booth was opened to the public in Berlin in 1881. Although the one I show in my pictures is not so old it already shows evident signs of damage. Due to the popularity of cell phones since its creation caused that since early 2000 these booths began to be forgotten.
There are currently many like this throughout the city but none are operational. The structures were abandoned and today wherever you can see them they are just a memory of the past.
The company in charge of installing these cabins was founded back in 1930. Meanwhile, the first telephone booths were installed throughout the country during 1988. These worked with coins that were inserted through a slot located in the body of the phone.
I hope you have found interesting this information and that you enjoyed the photos.
Best regards.
