Apple-Shazam: Musically even after
Apple has confirmed that it has bought Shazam, a London-based app that allows smartphone users to identify music, for a reported $400m. The tech giant, which revolutionized music with the introduction of the iPod and iPhone, said Shazam was a natural fit for its Apple Music streaming service. Shazam has had a hard time finding a viable business model, pulling in only $54 million in revenue in 2016.
I bet there's some audio recognition technology in there somewhere that they'll be itching to use with Siri, Homepod and alike. A must have for targeted marketing now we have all these devices with ears.
