Files Go: Google surprises with a new file manager for Android
Files Go is a new Android file manager from Google. The purpose of this is to help users to free the smartphone memory from unnecessary data.
With Files Go is a new file manager for Android in a closed beta phase. The software comes from Google and should help users to clean up the internal memory. For example, the apps that the user does not use are determined. In addition, it can detect duplicates images. Also, Files Go offers the usual functions of a file manager.
The name of the app makes it clear that the file manager is intended as part of Android Go. This is a version of the operating system introduced in May 2017, which should ensure a smooth work even on devices with rather weak hardware. Android Go also includes a number of apps that have been explicitly optimized for entry-level smartphones. With Youtube Go and Chrome Go, Google had already introduced two resource-conserving variants of popular apps.
Files Go: Android file manager lands on the web.
Since the beta version is currently only open to a limited group of users, unknown persons have put the app on the web. In order to use them, however, you need to enable the use of apps from unknown sources in the Android settings. Besides, you should be aware that it is an early beta version and so it might be full of bugs. If you are in doubt, you better go to one of the many other file managers you can find in the Play Store.
