VR Technology and AR Retail Markets
Virtual Reality (VR) and Augmented Reality (AR) technologies are touted as the technology of the future. Though VR and AR is not a new technology. Both returned to the attention after being reintroduced in 2009.
Despite its slow adoption, GfK's latest research cites the growth of VR and AR technologies in some parts of Southeast Asia. GfK notes that people are starting to pay attention to VR headsets that can be used to watch 360 degree videos.
If there were only two VR 360-degree camera brands in 2015, there are now 13 brands in 2016. In Southeast Asia, demand for 360-degree camera action has risen sharply in the past year, mainly from Singapore and Malaysia.
Meanwhile, the adoption of VR for the medical field also began to grow in the world. For example, VR applications for augmented vision, remote treatment, and remote diagnostic operations. However, until now, gaming is still an easy target for VR and AR adoption.
