Nokia was murdered.

You will come to know in the end why Nokia was assassinated

Now I will be telling how Nokia failed even after becoming the most popular mobile brand in the world. Just read the whole post to know why Nokia failed

In 1865 Nokia was established in Finland, which was a multi corporation company which was involved in many business, like Communication, Information technology and consumer hardware.

At first, Nokia had acquired Mobira Company which was a telephonic company by which Nokia was able to manufacture telephone handsets,In 1982 Nokia invented the first car phone known as Nokia mobira senator which weighed 10kilos. It had a really big disadvantage because of its weight, it was difficult to carry and had to be stationary.

In 1984 Nokia invented one more device called as Nokia mobira talkman which weighed 5kilos and could be placed in the passenger cars.

Nokia invented one more device which was known as Nokia cityman which was a revolutionary period for Nokia because the phone weighed around 800grams and by this invention there was enormous raise in manufacturing units and sales of this device.

Then in 1991 prime minister of Finland was the first person to make GSM call through Nokia phone. Then Nokia launched 1011 series in 1992, it started spreading all over Europe, later in 1994 they launched one more handset feature phone and expected no. of units to be sold was 0.4 million and they end up selling 20 million handset which was a major breakthrough,
The response exceeded their expectation, they had an expectation of 40 million handsets in 1999 but the no. of users increased to 250 million later there territory spread all over the world, around 25% people were using Nokia and Nokia took over the sales of Motorola.

As Nokia developed, they launched many handsets. Among the top 50 bestselling mobile, all top 20 mobiles were Nokia phones. Their man power, manufacturing setup and plant presence increased therefore Nokia’s profits increased due to which they reduced their research in the field of software and concentrated only on production. Nokia sold 468.4 million handsets in 2008.
Later Apple and Google (android) were born in America and Europe respectively, whose technology was way better than Nokia, this resulted in decrease in shares of Nokia in American and European countries. In Asian countries Samsung and Motorola acquired android os and started selling them in India and China, this again led to decrease in their shares of Nokia.

Nokia concentrated only on hardware, were as Google and Apple were concentrating on software which was an advantage for them.
By 2010 Apple had 0.4 million apps and Google had 125,000 Apps in their store but Nokia stuck onto Symbian os consisting of 20,000 apps

All phones like LG, HTC started running android os in their phones which created a big eco system.
At the end of 2010 new CEO was appointed that was Stephen Elop.
He wanted Nokia to be unique, instead of it running android os in their phones they choose Windows which again had very less apps.

Android ecosystem had hardware, software, developer application, e-commerce, advertising, search, social application, location based service and unified communication.
Now Apple had products like icloud, apple music, AirDrop, find friends and auto unlock etc. All the products were interrelated.
There two types of ecosystem:

  1. open eco system(android)

2.Closed eco sytem(ios)

Nokia didn’t have any of these ecosystem, hence there was a decline in their market shares by the end of 2012.

All the developers were developing apps for play store and Apple store which was a great disadvantage for Nokia
Because of the reasons mentioned above, Nokia failed

This is all about Nokia guys, I hope you loved it. Thank you for reading.
