Google will take the best of Instagram and Snapchat to present news on your phone
Snapchat inaugurated a new way to show content between friends, something that replicated with great success Instagram with his Stories. The intention of Google is that the format of slides with photos and videos be used to show news.
According to The Wall Street Journal, Google's initiative is named Stamp and will look to improve a technology called AMP (Accelerated Mobile Pages) by adding Snapchat-style slides for mobile news.
AMP is a Google initiative that allows media to use a format to make your news load faster when users access from a phone or tablet.
Stamp, which could be opened later this week, would allow the media to create slides with text, photos and videos. The user, as with Discover of Snapchat and Instagram Stories, will only have to slide them on the screen to see them.
At present, the Google application shows a selection of news topics on which users are interested. Presented in text boxes with small images, they can be removed by sliding them across the screen.
Modernization
AMP has been running since 2015, but it does not offer much more than a faster speed when loading news. Stamp will go beyond, seeking to surpass even Instant Articles of Facebook, also limited to offer content in different media.
The idea of Google is to distinguish itself from the competition by adding Stamp to the search results, so that readers could have an overview of a story in a few seconds.
According to WSJ, media such as Vox Media, Mic, CNN, The Washington Post and Time are negotiating with Google to participate in the project.
