Internet Of things(IOT) - # Part 1
The internet of things(IOT) refers to the use of intelligently connected devices and systems to leverage data gathered by embedded sensors and actuators in machine and other physical objects. IOT is expected to spread rapidly in years to come and create a convergence that will unleash a new dimension of services that would improve the general quality of productivity and the life of consumers unlocking the possibility of the 'connected life'.
For consumers, IOT has great potential to deliver solutions that dramatically improve energy efficiency, security,health,education and every imaginable aspects of human life.
For Enterprises, IOT had great potential to create solutions that would improve decision making and productivity in manufacturing, agriculture, infrastructural development, retail and all the likes.
The IOT uses wireless network to connect devices to each other and the internet with minimal direct human intervention in a bid to deliver services that meets the need of a wide range of industries
IOT represents the coordination of multiple vendor machine, devices and appliances connected to the internet through multiple network, it's impact is considerable but it is still at its early stage and would require a concerted effort to optimize the development of its market, understanding the distinct nature of the opportunity it presents is required to to make decisions to push further.
Key distinctive features:
• IOT can enable the next wave of life enhancing services across several fundamental sectors of the economy
• IOT possesses the attribute that would help meet the needs of customers that may require global distribution and continual global services
• IOT presents opportunity to create efficient models that would support mass deployment needed for commercial needs
•IOT provides multiple streams for value added services that mobile operators can capitalize on and provide services that would generate major revenue
• IOT creates new and efficient device and application behavior that are all encompassing and would create various varying demands on present mobile networks.
