Panasonic will build its first "smart city" in the US
As part of a large-scale CityNow program, Panasonic, one of the most well-known manufacturers of consumer electronics, turns a vacant lot into the USA into a "city of the future".
Where and what will be
Panasonic promises to completely transform 162 hectares of vacant land in the state of Colorado, near the airport of Denver. Here, work is boiling: there are devices for distributing free Wi-Fi, LED street lights, air pollution sensors, solar panels and security cameras.
Thanks to energy micro networks, which are partially powered by the sun, the city will be able to exist autonomously if electricity is cut off for 72 hours.
When to expect
The company promises to fully complete all the work and present the "smart city" by 2026. If the project is successful - similar initiatives can be deployed in other cities of America.
