World's longest bridges

The longest bridge title in the world teaches us how to obtain an honorary title that has been sustained by various structures throughout history. Although the bridges themselves are different, the only constant characteristic is that the nation that contains this bridge will undoubtedly boast about it.

I decided to explain in this article the ten longest bridges in the world. Some of them are railroads, highways, and the metro.

1.DANYANG- KUNSHAN GRAND BRIDGE, China 102.4 Miles

The Danyang - Kunshan Grand railway bridge took four years to complete with employing 10 thousand people work on it and it cost about $8.5billion. While the bridge was finished on NOV 15, 2010 and it publicly allowed first rail transportation on the bridge in JUN,2011. The grand bridge is 102.4 mile (164.8 kilometers) long and the span of 260 feet. The hight of the bridge from the ground is around 100 feet (31meters). The most way of the bridge is Passes through Yangtze river, about 8 to 80 Kilometers (5 to 50 mile). This bridge is part of 'Beijing–Shanghai High-Speed Railway' hold record of the longest bridge in the world.

2.CHANGHUA-KAOHSIUNG VIADUCT, Taiwan 97 Miles

Changhua-Kaohsiung Viaduct is held the record of world's second longest bridge. The bridge is part of 'Taiwan High-Speed Rail' 97 miles long in length. The bridge locates from Baguashan ( Changhua Country ) to Zuoying ( Kaohsiung ). The worlds second longest is also a railway bridge. The bridge was completed in 2007. Over 200 million passengers had travel by Dec 2012 on it. The bridge is basically designed maximum earthquake resistant for trains to stop safely during a seismic activity and easily repair damage from these activities.

3.Tianjin Grand Bridge, China 70.6 Miles

Tianjin Grand Bridge is a railway viaduct bridge that runs between Langfang and Qingxian, which is a part of Beijing-Shanghai High- speed railway. It is one of the longest bridges in the world with a total length of about 113,700m or 70.6miles. The construction of this bridge was started in about 2006 and was completed in 2010 but open in 2011 June 30. As of 2011, it also holds the Guinness World Record as the second longest bridge in the world.

4.Cangde Grand Bridge, China 65.7 Miles

Cangde Grand bridge is the world's fourth longest bridge and also located in China. It is also a part of the Beijing-Shanghai High-speed Railway and is the third longest bridge on the railway. The construction of this bridge was completed in 2010 and it has been designed with a view to withstanding earthquakes. The total length of the Cangde Grand Bridge is about 105.81km or 65.7miles and it has a total of 3092 piers.

5.Weinan Weihe Grand Bridge, China 49.5 Miles

The Weinan Weihe Grand Bridge is also the longest bridge in the world and also located in China. It is part of the Zhengzhou-Xi'an High-speed railway which connects Zhengzhou and Xi'an. The bridge is 79,732 meters or 49.5 miles long. The construction of the Bridge was completed in 2008 but the railway line itself did not open until February 6, 2010. It was the longest bridge in the world but surpassed by two new bridges on Beijing-Shanghai High-speed Railway that completed in 2010. The Bridge is so long that it crosses the Wei river twice.

6.The Bang Na Expressway, Thailand 34.1 Miles

The full name of this expressway is Bang Na - Bang Phli - Bang Pakong Expressway officially known as Barupha with Expressway. It is a 55km or 34.1 miles long six-lane elevated highway in Thailand. It is a toll road and runs above National Highway route 34,(Bang Na - Trat Highway). The Bang Na Expressway is a Box girder viaduct, an overpass-style bridge made of numerous, small spans. The construction of the road started in 1995 and completed after five years. Officially the bridge was opened in February 2000. Basically, the bridge was built to solve the main problem of Bangkok's Traffic congestion. The world's longest car bridge, the Bang Na Expressway, held the title of the world's longest bridge from 2000-2004. Now it is the 6th longest bridge in Thailand. It is not only the longest bridge also attracts the numerous tourists because of its wonderful construction which was constructed by the leading engineers and architects from Thailand and the U.S.A.

7.Beijing Grand Bridge, China 29.9 Miles

Beijing grand bridge is constructed for the Beijing-Shanghai High-Speed Railway, Beijing-china. The total length of this Bridge is 48,153 meter or 29.9 miles. This bridge construction was completed in 2010 but it opened for high-speed rail on June 30, 2011. It is one of the longest bridge in the world.

8.Lake Pontchartrain Causeway, U.S.A 23.83 Miles

Lake Pontchartrain was named for the Count de Pontchartrain who served as minister of finance during the reign of France's "Sun King" Louis XIV for whom Louisiana is named. It also is known as only The Causeway. It is a fixed link composed of two parallel bridges crossing Lake Pontchartrain in Southern Louisiana, U.S.A.The bridge is 38.35 km or 23.83 miles long. The bridge is opened in southern terminus of the causeway is in Metairie, Louisiana, a suburb of New Orleans. The northern terminus is at Mandeville, Louisiana. In southern terminus, it was constructed on August 30, 1956, and in northern terminus May 10, 1969. It was listed by Guinness World Record as The longest bridge over water in the world until 2011,(the opening of the Jiaozhou Bay Bridge in China). Lake Pontchartrain is also one of America's most famous scenic attractions. The lake is home to a wide variety fish and selfish, ducks and waterfowl.

9.Line 1 Wuhan Metro Bridge, China 23.48 Miles

The Wuhan Metro Bridge is an elevated metro line system serving the city of Wuhan, Hubei, China. It is the longest continuous metro viaduct in the world. The whole metro system operated by the Wuhan Metro Co., Ltd.It have two line or two phases, the first phase is this one which is connect Huangpu to Zongguan and second phase or line 2 is connected from Dijiao to Huangpu Road and from Zongguan to Dongwu Boulevard. Line 1 opened on 28 July 2004, making Wuhan the fifth city in mainland Cina to have a metro system after Beijing, Tianjin, Shanghai, Guangzhou and second phase was opened on July 29, 2010. This is the first metro line in China wrongly referred to as a light rail line in Chinese terminology as it is elevated. Originally the branch line was planned to cross the Yangtze to Wuchang District via the Second Wuhan Yangtze River Bridge. The Bridge is 23.48 miles long.

10.Mancahc Swamp Bridge, U.S.A. 22.80 Miles

Manchac Swamp Bridge is one of the longest bridge in the world over water. this bridge is also claimed that the longest toll-free road bridge in the world. Interstate 55 and U.S. Route 51 carries by the bridge in Louisiana. The bridge is open first time for the public in 1979 and the Manchac Swamp Bridge cost $7 million per mile to complete.
