3D Organ Printing

in #technology8 years ago (edited)

3D printing real working organs for the human body probably sounded preposterous to the vast majority several years ago. Not going to lie when I first heard about the idea back in 2013 I was very skeptical. During Christmas break, a good buddy of mine from high school who had gone on to be successful in D.C. after going to a highly respected university had got to talking about the future of 3d printing. "NOW is the time to invest in the REAL world changer behind 3D printing, 3D Organ Printing!". Did you say "3D organ printing?" because at the time 3D printing was blowing peoples mind by being able to print replicas of plastic toys. Taking my friends advice after doing a little research I decided to purchase some stock ina company by the name of OrganNova that seemed to be leading the charge in 3D organ printing.

For some reason I had expected there to be giant leaps and FAST in the following months regarding this new amazing idea that could help save so many lives and change the entire medical field. The past 3 years I had read very little news about 3D organ printing.. That is until 2016 came around. Back in February 2016, Wake Forest researchers had succesfully implanted 3D printed human tissue into animals. Following this remarkable advancement were tons of stories and news regarding 3D printed human tissue and body parts. Scientists have been able to print everything from ears to livers. Could it be possible to 3D print a working human heart in the near future? And what kind of medical costs will this technology require? The future of 3D organ printing is finally coming to life and I can only imagine the future technologies that we the human race will eventually be capable of.

This would be a huge advancement, I have a friend that has been on a list for a kidney for over two years.

I know! It can change the medical field completely. Best of luck to your friend.. Hopefully in the near future no one will have to go through that.
