The Week Was Awesome 23 Nov

in #technology6 years ago

If you’re visiting a shopping mall these next few weeks watch where you’re going… or you’ll bump into some glittering decoration and stray tinsel. The transformation is unbelievably awesome! Speaking of which, here’s what else is awesome…

1. Do you excel at work? Is there a power point to it all? Word!
The world runs on Microsoft Office. The UK government got a scary taste of what could happen if their cloud office suddenly went down. How do we balance the need for connectivity and security/availability?

2. What’s New with Big Blue: Are you READY or are you NEXT
Cybersecurity is absolutely indispensable. But it doesn’t have to be expensive. How do you secure your organisation without high costs?
Why, ask the most awesome person you know, of course! (Err that would be me) message me for details on how you can get a free 3 month trial.

3. Distributed legerdemain
The US elections saw the state of West Virginia pilot a blockchain-based vote via mobile! The future of voting? As I always say, the blockchain itself cannot address gerrymandering, voter disenfranchisement or intimidation and can deflect attention from these fundamental issues. Democracy is not simple.

4. Data and Taxes
Put aside US politics. This is about data and what insights it has. If you love data (and I know you do), check out this bonanza! Data tells us what happened a year after the US tax cuts. Did it work? Let the data speak…

5. What Kenvi learned this week Calorie counting
I’ve been watching my calorie intake (thanks to a super health freak colleague of mine) and I got confuse between kcal and Cal (capital C)… shouldn’t a kcal = 1000 Cal? Uhh, turns out nope.

Why don’t seagulls live in the bay?
Because then they’d be bagels.
