What’s the best phone out there right now?
Before you guys begin to think of various models and spec sheets, let me give you some context…During just another regular lunch conversation in office, the discussion wound around to the one gadget that seems to keep us from having meaningful conversations in the first place – our phones. Starting from the several iOS and Android devices that lay on our table, each one of us (in our mid-late twenties) started describing our journey with the ubiquitous device and how we came to own them.
Our phones on the table
Everyone had a different story but we all seemed to agree on one thing, the MOTOROLA RAZR was the coolest smartphone ever. Period. To those who disagree, I’d love to hear your thoughts in the comments. To those who don’t remember or have never actually seen a MOTORAZR, this is what it used to look like:
Such was the impact of the RAZR on our then adolescent minds that 13 years on, we still cannot think of a cooler phone despite the plethora of options in the market. I even spent a couple of hours trying to buy a good clean RAZR from any available source.
Fast forward to the tea break: I break the news to my team that I actually spent the last couple of hours looking to find a MOTORAZR in good working condition that I could buy. To my surprise, not one person laughed at me. A couple of my team mates even asked to check if we could get discounts on bulk orders and were willing to put their had earned money as well on a 13 year old feature phone with a VGA camera!! Here is a screenshot from GSMArena.com that details out the specifications:
This actually had me wondering about the modern counterparts of the RAZR. To all the Steemians out there… What do you think is the smartphone that today’s adolescents would be willing to put their money down on 13 years from now? Or is brand affinity dead when it comes to smartphone models? What do you think makes an enduring brand in the rapidly evolving tech world? Of all the phones available today, which one do you think is likely to be the most remembered a decade from now?
Disclaimer: The photographs of the MotorolaRAZR do not belong to me and are google sourced images. The spec sheet is a screenshot from GSMArena.com and the copyrights for these images lie with the respective owners. I do not lay claim to any of the pictures in this post apart from the first one.
yeah moto razr still one of the best phone ;)
:)
I remeber when the RAZR came out. It was totally the coolest phone at the time! Still is a sexy phone! They should bring back a 2017 version!
I absolutely agree! Got really excited a few years back when there was a hoax circulating about the possible re-launch of the RAZR...
I have one of those phones in my junk drawer, my brother always said they were the best.....
The RAZR? Does it still work?
Yes, but its just collecting dust....
Probably its time you got it out.. Im planning to buy one soon...
Ya, good idea, I was thinking of getting a new phone, I guess I'll use my "vintage" phone......they're more reliable anyway .
