RE: Recycling gold from scrap electronics for fun and profit.

Profit? I'm skeptical.

I have looked into doing this for some profit and I really was turned away by the costs of the chemicals and the bulk parts. Harder to make money than you might think.

If you have a free source of either you can make some quick cash. Same with just gold jewelry.

Ordering the boards isn't profitable. You need to collect them locally or set your own price. People selling online know the profit margin and skate on it. The reagents are fairly cheap and generally reusable.

Exactly if you have the skills to reuse your acids go for it.

You need the free scrap and I don't have the time to go look for some.

Its certainly an opportunity based way to make some extra cash, but crypto people often have hobbies/jobs that overlap. I personally had several pounds of old ram, pci cards, and some other gold plated items to work with. When you work on the hardware side of tech you tend to collect junk anyways.
