We've seen some great phones go on sale over the past few months, including the iPhone 8, 8 Plus and X, Pixel 2 XL, Samsung Galaxy Note 8, Nokia 8, Moto Z2 Force, LG V30 and Xiaomi Mi Mix 2. Now that these are available to buy we have removed them from this round-up.

If you're in the market for a new phone your choices available right now are pretty good, but it's always the way that as soon as you take the plunge and upgrade something better comes along and you regret your decision. In this article we outline the phones that will be released over the next few months to help you decide whether or not to wait.

If you can hang on to early 2018 then the new line of flagships for 2018 will begin to arrive, including the Galaxy S9, LG G7, HTC U12, Sony Xperia XZ1 Premium and OnePlus 6.

Huawei P11
Tipped for February's MWC tradeshow, the P11 will be successor to the company's current flagship, the P10.
In common with the Mate 10 it will likely get the Kirin 970 chip, which Huawei claims delivers 25 times better CPU performance and 50 times greater energy efficiency.
Very little is known about the P11, but rumours suggest it could copy sister company Honor's latest flagship and ditch the 3.5mm headphone jack

LG G7
The LG G6 hasn't been around for long but there are already some rumours emerging about the next model.It's thought that the firm will release the LG G7 as early as January 2018 pegging the launch at CES 2018. This would give it a head start against major rivals such as the Galaxy S9.Another rumour suggests that LG is already wroking with Qualcomm and the G7 will be the first with its new Snapdragon 845 processor.

Samsung Galaxy S9 & Galaxy S9+
We're now into the second half of 2017, which means we're starting to see rumours of new devices that will rock up in early 2018 too. The Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+ will be the biggest and baddest of the lot, continuing to perfect what have so far shaped up to be the best phones of 2017.New in the Galaxy S9 and S9+ is likely to be the 7nm Snapdragon 845 or 8nm Exynos 9810 processor and dual-lens rear cameras, plus fingerprint scanners embedded into the Infinity display.Performance will definitely get a boost, and we might see Samsung finally go above the 4GB of RAM seen in the company's previous flagships. The design is not likely to change significantly, and hopefully neither will the price.It's possible we'll see the Galaxy S9 earlier than ever in 2018, copying the LG G7 with a January launch event.

Sony Xperia XZ1 Premium
Sony is thought to be unveiling the Premium version of its Sony Xperia XZ1 at February's MWC 2018 trade show, would place its launch date as 25 February 2018.We expect the Premium to feature a 5.7in 4K display with an 18:9 'bezel-less' design.Less is known on the core hardware, with contradictory sources claiming it will feature the Snapdragon 835 or 845, 4- or 6GB of RAM and 64- or 128GB of storage. Our money is on the former, since Samsung may well be again holding the exclusive on the new Qualcomm chip.

Apple iPhone 9
The iPhone X is a celebration of 10-years of iPhone. It's also super-premium and expansive. But Apple has confirmed that this phone lays the foundations for the next 10 years of the iPhone and we suspect that the 2018 iPhone update will take a lot from the iPhone X.There's currently no knowing what Apple will call the new iPhone, but we suspect it will move from stainless steel back to aluminium to bring the price down, while retaining that 19:9 display and using Face ID rather than Touch ID in a home button. We'd expect Apple to offer a couple of sizes in this design, making some differentiation between the two as it does with the iPhone 8 and 8 Plus currently. At the moment, however, there's no evidence to say exactly what might happen.
