#Robotics-Sumobot: Creating my sumobot blog series for the robot sumo competition!
I will be competing in Robot Sumo this coming May to June and I want to share with you guys my experience plus tutorials on how to create a sumo bot. I hope we learn together!
What is Robot sumo?
Robot Sumo is a competition between 2 autonomous robot that pushes each other out of the ring. This is just like the traditional sports of japan Sumo Wresting but in this competition, an autonomous robot was being used called "Sumo-Bot".
Robot sumo was different from the Robot wars that aims to destroy his enemy because in this competition, you will be disqualified if your robot use any weapon/spears that could damage or harm other opponents sumobot. Though sometimes, bots can be turned upside down but it is just okay if it is only by means of pushing and unintentionally.
Robot Sumo Class
Robot sumo is divided into several divisions and here are the class division description:
- Heavy-weight. Standard in the National Robotics Challenge. Robots may weigh up to 125 pounds (56.8 kg) and fit in a 2-foot cube (61 cm).
- Light-weight. Also standard in the National Robotics Challenge. Robots may weigh up to 50 pounds (22.7 kg) and fit in a 2-foot cube (61 cm).
- Standard class (sometimes named Mega-sumo) robots may mass up to 3 kg and fit inside a 20 cm by 20 cm box, any height.
- Mini-sumo. Up to 500 g mass, 10 cm by 10 cm, any height.
- Micro-sumo. Up to 100 g mass, must fit in a 5 cm cube.
- Nano-sumo. Must fit in a 2.5 cm cube.
- Femto-sumo. Must fit inside a 1 cm cube.
Just like the Boxing and wrestling they are just divided according to their size and weight.
