RE: Internet Police and the Future of Man
I find this a little fascination that for last 100 years we have been taught that 'you are the most important person in the world'. It's no wonder that we have become such brats ;-)
I would always agree that sense of self and importance of one's own ego is paramount to leading a fulfilling life. My problem arises from that fact that self sacrifice is not only actively discouraged in that portrayal of the modern man and woman in the media, it is actively looked down upon.
Warriors and hero's of old are called names and their tales recounted as a lessons to stay away from sacrifice.
Okay I am going to stop the rant. The thing is that I see my elders, who are the silent heroes who raised me. Sacrificed a part of their lives to give me the best and try to make me a better a person. Somehow if they were to be called in an interview - I can guarantee that there would be this sneaky little attacks by the interviewer asking them that why they had to go to such troubles.
There is a chance that this so called successful interviewer is probably estranged from his own children.
.............they ask - where they went wrong? The answer is simple - there is more to raising a part of humanity than just changing diapers.
I am gong to stop now because I am going around in circles
Thanks for sharing.
I think you hit the nail on the head several times here.
"A culture of Brats" - nicely put.
"Silent Heroes' - I'm reminded about the best leadership being a point of example....where it's often just a point of our ordinary participations here - and a consistency within it for managing and caring for our responsibilities....where it's not about putting ourselves in the limelight or seeking attention per se...it's about giving because we got it to give. (Lao Tzu comes to mind and the Silent Leader who barely needs to say anything)
enjoyed your rant - Cheers :)
Glad you enjoyed :-)
I don't even know what happened. I think I was reading some stuff and then I came over your post and BAM!
