Didn't Ubuntu discontinue their mobile OS?
They sure are. It is still very much alive. Ubports picked up where Ubuntu left off. They are currently working on releasing ubuntu touch OS 16.04 with anbox(an android app emulator)
Ehh correction, not an emulator, its a layer.
ubports.com continues the work, see description.
Hope it developes, I want that on my phone for years...
UBports continues it using the Halium project now, see http://docs.halium.org/en/latest/ for porting your android device!
Ubuntu touch looks really awesome, but unfortunately it is not officially supported anymore, is it?
But Pure OS on the Librem 5 looks really promising as well.
It would be really awesome to have a free GNU+Linux OS on mobile as well.
See above comments, Ubuntu Touch OS is alive :)
Now if they could voip free calls even fire rtc cost though
