fix audio Bluetooth lag on JBL speaker (laptops)
There is nothing more depressing than watching a video on your laptop with your newly purchased Bluetooth speaker for all that to stop because there is definitely noticeable audio lag that doesn’t catch up to the video . Yes, This might not happen when you listen to music, but what about that cool action movie you've been dying to use the speaker with? If you don't want to bring out that aux cable and keep the speaker on your bed stand while you watch your videos, use this trick I always use!
Requirements:
- Bluetooth enabled laptop
- JBL Speaker ( or any other BT speaker)
- VLC Media Player (Up to date version)
VLC Intro
If you don’t already know, VLC is a multimedia player that supports a wide variety of formats such as MP4, MP3, M4A, OGG,FLAC, WMA etc. It is crowned the king of multimedia players because of the rapid advancements and tools which can run almost every playable format. The 3D acceleration and customization is what really makes this player like no other.
The reason we're using The latest VLC media player is because of their life saving settings !We will simply dive into those “Show extended settings which will overall make no audio lag occur. Before we begin, It’s also noted while trying out series using the MKV format, the settings may differ but all of that will be mentioned below.
How to get rid of Bluetooth speaker audio lag
Step 1
Open up any video, movie, clip you want to watch and make sure the Bluetooth speaker is connected.
Step 2
In VLC windowed Pause the video and click on the “Show extended settings”
Step 3
Under “adjustments and effects” click on the ‘Synchronization ” Tab
Step 4
On the right side of “Audio track synchronization” There’s a box with the value “0.000 s”
Step 5: edit the 0.000 s value with the one’s below
The best setting values that have worked for me:
Movies: -0.290 (Hastened)
Series: -0.290 (Hastened)
Music Videos: -0.150 (Hastened)
Movie back up : -0.400 (Hastened)
Music Video back up : -0.190 (Hastened)
Series Backup: -0.390 (Hastened)
Step 6: Close the panel and continue your video!
Important note: If you close the VLC media player or go to the next video, the settings will automatically reset to default “0.000s” so you have to always do this for every single video that you want to watch.
There you go! You should experience better results when watching your videos and notice less or zero audio lag but make sure you always play with the settings if they don’t quite match up and make sure to comment below which setting values worked for you and new setting values that you have tested out and found great results with. These settings were tested on my JBL flip 4 so don’t be too surprised if the results vary on your Bluetooth speaker You can visit my website by using the link in my Bio and I hope you guys have a great day!
