Drone Deliveries Expand Throughout China
SF Holding Ltd is a Chinese based company that just recently received approval to go ahead and use drones for their air deliveries.
SF is regarded as a leading delivery company in the region and they just recently were successful in obtaining the license from military authorities so that they can begin to use drones to deliver commercial packages.
The recently approved application covers at least five counties that are located in the Nankang district and Ganzhou city in Jiangxi province. They just finished with their first successful drone flying demonstration last week and they are ready to launch a number of different drone types to help them with deliveries.
Their drones are alleged to be able to hold a max of 25 kilograms and they are able to fly about 100 km.
It's expected that SF will be expanding the drone delivery services into a number of different cities and remote regions etc. And this isn't the first time that drone deliveries have successfully been tested in China; this progress by SF only adds to the growing momentum of moving in that delivery direction.
UPS is another big player in the drone delivery space and they reportedly just made a deal with SF Holding to pursue a joint venture with them. Together they want to expand shipping services from China to the US. Another company, JD.Com, in China already has a fleet of drones that have been successfully delivering packages to thousands of customers in a number of different provinces.
Industry experts predict that drone sales will only continue to grow and that the global drone market will pull in at least $6 billion overall for 2017; a 34 percent revenue growth compared to that in 2016.
Drones are very popular and they aren't just for military and/or commercial use but personal use of them has been dominating the market.
It's alleged that somewhere around 94 percent of the market for drone sales is just from personal drone use.
However, when it comes to overall revenue share, the personal sales only make up about 40 percent of the market. Commercial scale drone operations are obviously often going to be much more costly and that is why they make up a bigger share of the market.
The drone market has come a long way and there are a myriad of different drone options and price points now available for consumers on the market. Drone deliveries aren't just taking off in China but they've been making progress in the US as well and other areas. Who knows how long it might be before we see drones frequently buzzing around delivering all sorts of different packages from one business or another.
The growing trend in drone deliveries has prompted concern from many who are worried about their privacy, among other issues. And it's led to a discussion on the possibility of city officials taking it upon themselves to introduce various "no-drone zone" legislation. There is also an effort underway to develop a drone detecting system that the FAA has already been working on for some time, they might soon unveil that system at numerous airports around the US.

It will be really interesting to see where this goes in the future. Only yesterday, several flights had to be diverted from a UK airport due to a drone flying on the approach.

I bought a cheap one myself but lost it when I accidentally flew it into the top of a bunch of trees, never to be seen again!!
China #1 we drone for victory China #1
I cant wait to see drone technology be used more especially for deliveries! It would be really cool to just see huge swarms of drones in the sky. I actually found a website that lists out tons of different future uses for drones here.

havent seen any yet sadly
it will come every where soon, i think
With new technologies we think of new ways to update old tasks. I cannot wait for our future. It is happening right now as we speak. Steemit and crypto is that in a currency way. Newer technologies are faster paced. Think about robots. Think about ai. Think about all the changes happening so quick. I think it is like a industrial revolution going on. With times like this there will be people who want to preserve the past more then go with the future so you have old world vs new world. Eventually the new world will replace the old world. We are a part of the new world. Thank you for this article
the drone phenomena has snuck up on me. I was too busy looking the other way. I'd like to get one myself and do a photo shoot with it or have it video me doing a food photo shoot.
Drones can be very useful especially in cities where the density of people is high!
Postal drones have already proved their usefulness to people.
