What happened to Microsoft's internet explorer?

in #technology6 years ago

If you have used the new Windows 10 operating system, you've probably noticed that it comes with a brand new built-in browser called the "Microsoft Edge".

It's faster than chrome in loading web pages and looks pretty simple and easy-to-use.

The browser comes in as a replacement for the infamous "Microsoft Internet Explorer".

But, Why?

Why did Microsoft bother to create a new browser when IE (Internet Explorer) was failing so bad?

The answer is - Google.

With the growing use of Google's search engine and Android in the market, Google is getting a lot of private data from its users, which it uses to:

  1. Earn Revenue
  2. Make better products, and
  3. Improve its current products
    1. Microsoft wants to recreate that. It wants to earn more revenue that way.

And since we all know how bad the "Windows Phone" operating system failed, Microsoft had to think of something else to collect that private data.

Windows 10 and Edge are the best way to do so.

Creating an OS which will make people feel good while using it and making a browser that will make people use it will automatically help Microsoft collect data.

If you've not noticed it yet, Windows 10 is the most data hungry OS Microsoft has ever created with most of its pre-installed apps requiring to connect to the internet.

The OS itself sends a lot of data to Microsoft and there's just no stopping it.

Microsoft claims that they use this data to fix security issues, but who knows what else they might be doing with it...

But, in-spite of all that happening, the question remains,

What Happened To The Internet Explorer?

The answer is simple - nothing. It's still there!

Though Edge is the default browser on Windows 10, Internet Explorer is there too.

      Don't believe me?

Try searching for "Internet Explorer" in Cortana.

      See?

The latest version Internet Explorer comes pre-installed on the OS.

So if you feel like browsing the web in your nostalgic, slow, troublesome Internet Explorer, Windows has got it all set for you!
