iPhone X Affected by Buzzing Sound From Earpiece Speaker, Some Users Report
A number of iPhone X users have started complaining a buzzing sound from its earpiece speaker. The issue reportedly becomes noticeable at higher volume levels and isn't resolved even with replacement units.
Some of the affected users have reported the earpiece issue of the iPhone X on Reddit and Twitter, as well as explain its existence in the comments section on 9to5Mac. The users report that a sound similar to rattling or clipping emerges from the speaker. "It seems to be rattling/clipping when playing anything at high volume, even if it's just someone talking. I even got my phone replaced yesterday, but the new unit has the same issue," one of the users writes on in a Reddit thread.
While most of the users report that the disturbance occurs when they put the speaker to a higher volume, some iPhone X units are found to have the problem even at around 50 percent volume.
We've reached out to Apple for comment and will update this story as we receive an official word regarding the issue.
Previously, iPhone 8 users had complained about a "crackling" sound. The annoying issue was reported on both the iPhone 8 and the iPhone 8 Plus and was heard on some voice calls, not across all. Apple released iOS 11.0.2 in early October to address the flaw and fix the sound.
It isn't certain however that the iPhone X earpiece issue is the same as the one that affected the iPhone 8. Just recently, a green line was also shown on the OLED display of the top-end iPhone model that has been referred on social media as "Green line of death".
