Floating WINDMILLS Are About To Get Build -- The FUTURE Of Renewable Source Of Energy ! But How Do They Work & Most Importantly How Much Do They Cost?

Windmills have always been a great source of Renewable energy for many years. They are being used for creating electricity from wind. They can produce enough electricity to power a small village for a day. With large wattage capacity, they can power even a whole town. Windmills or some people call them Wind Turbines are the most reliable and Clean source of Renewable energy. Now the question is how do they work?

Windmills usually have three blades which are computer controlled. The main job of computer is to calculate the direction of wind so that it can fix the direction of Windmill's blade accordingly. After calculating the direction, three blades are placed facing the wind direction and they move clockwise, or anti-clockwise, in some cases by the wind. This circular movement rotates the turbines connected to the blades and that turbines rotate the generator to generate electricity which can be used as per circumstances. 

Now, the windmill is great concept but as per circumstances, the World change and so it's requirement. 

Now is the time for Floating Windmills.

It means they will float on oceans to generate more electricity. 

Now the question is Why do we need Floating Windmills when the fixed one's are doing pretty fine?

The simple answer would be Efficiency. Floating Windmills have the advantage of abundant wind which is blowing offshore. The onshore air gets stuck among the tress and the populated areas, so the fixed windmills receives far less wind to begin with. Floating windmills allow the generation of electricity further away from the coast.

Now, next question is How much does it cost to setup a Floating Windmill ?

This is the main challenge in this whole concept. This is not the economical one. The cost is too much as compared to the traditional Windmill. Floating mills cost more to build than traditional ones. 

As per a study in 2014, it is revealed that the potential floating windmill would inherit the cost of energy between $65 and $265 per megawatt hour. Additionally, they would even cost around $4.7 million to get build as compared to $3.5 million for the traditional ones. So the cost would be the deciding factor for the Floating windmills. However, there are various researches are conducting to reduce the cost of per megawatt hour energy production. 

Now, Is There Any Floating Windmill built already?

No yet, but they are building as we speak. A group of floating windmill is to built off the coast of North-East Scotland. They are said to be the World's largest. The Scottish Government has given it's approval for the same. Eight windmills would built off generating enough electricity to power 55000 homes. 

The company involved in this project is named  Kincardine Offshore Windfarm Ltd. This project would create around 105 jobs for the engineers and architects.

So, the renewable source of energy is the future and It would be pretty cheap when it would spread widely. As per a research, half of the World's energy requirement should be met by renewable source of energy by 2030, which could be easily possible with some great efforts.
