Unboxing and Review of the Sennheiser HD 450 Bluetooth Wireless Headphones with Active Noise Cancellation (HD 4.50 BTNC)
Dear Steemit Friends,
As a continuation of the unboxing and review of the various goodies I purchased, I would like to continue by unboxing and reviewing the Sennheiser HD 4.50 BTNC Wireless Headphones I recently bought. I had originally planned to buy a wireless BOSE headset, however, while I was looking at the various options a Sennheiser salesman approached me. I had always heard of the brand but had not ever experienced the actual products before.
I figured "why not take a shot," I was set on buying a BOSE headset which I could use both at home and while traveling, but if this person could convince me otherwise, I might consider purchasing a Sennheiser instead. Standing in front of the display, the first thing that caught my eye was the price. The 4.50 was nearly $300 USD which was more then I wanted to pay for a noise cancellation headset, but the salesman quickly squashed that concern and mentioned that they were currently half off and priced at roughly $149.99 which I thought wasn't too bad.
After about an hour of discussion and in-store testing, the salesman easily convinced me. The next thing I knew, I was walking out of the store, headset in hand, and a little fuzzy about what just happened. Buyers remorse???
As soon as I got home, I unboxed the headset which you can see in the short video below.
As you can see from the above video, The headset is securely packaged. It comes folded which is convenient for travel and comes with a vinyl carrying case as well as a USB connector/charger. It feels very solid in build quality, but also soft offering flexibility for users of all shapes and sizes.
The padding on the ears and headpiece are a soft and flexible leather and fit comfortably on the ears and head. Unlike the BOSE headset I was looking at which surround your ears for a suction cup fit, This headset sits on your ears. I'm not sure if I like that or not, but because of the soft leather, it definitely comfortable. The leather molds to your ears, so like the BOSE headset it offers a secure and noise canceling fit. The only downside is if you have greasy or oily skin which easily rubs off on the headset requiring you to clean and dry it (assuming you are sweating).
Below are just some of the specs from the packaging:
- Bluetooth 4.0 and aptX technologies to deliver exceptional wireless sound quality..Connectivity Technology: Wireless
- NoiseGard active noise cancellation to reduce ambient noise levels improving the listening experience.
- Intuitive ear-cup mounted controls for changing tracks and for making calls via the integrated microphone.
- Up to 19-hour battery life with Bluetooth and NoiseGard activated and is supplied with connecting cable for battery-free listening
- 2-year warranty when purchased from an authorized Sennheiser dealer
What set this headset apart from other headsets I was looking for, was that this one came with a built-in mic. The salesman at the store helped me connect it via Bluetooth to my cell phone and had me call him from across the store and outside. Not only did the headset offer noise canceling in the ear, but also canceled out ambient noises through the microphone. We switched places and I could hardly tell he was talking to me from outside in the parking lot, which was next to a busy freeway - I think that is what sold me. Unlike gaming headsets - this mic did not protrude from the headset and instead was embedded in the bottom of the earpiece.
As mentioned before, the headset conveniently folds up and can be stored in its vinyl carrying bag. When folded, it fits in the palm of your hand and can easily be packed into your backpack, purse, or any sized carry on or checked luggage. I have been using it on a daily basis and it is great for con calls at work and allows you to focus on whatever you are listening to.
Because you can connect this through Bluetooth, everything can be accomplished on the headphone itself. Various buttons allow you to mute your mic, answer calls, disconnect calls, etc. It is also capable of connecting to multiple devices at once - using the buttons allows you to toggle between devices you are connected to. If you are listening to music and the headset is connected to your phone, it will automatically mute and pause the music so that you can take your call.
If you are looking for a good headset with good sound quality - one that has good highs and lows and can give you a good amount of bass then this headset will be perfect for you. If you need a headset that serves as a device that will allow you to listen to your music, but at the same time serve as a wireless extension for you to make calls, then I would again recommend this headset for you. If you want something that is portable and durable, that you can take with you anywhere - then again I recommend this headset.
I don't have many bad things to say about this product. The only negative thing I can say about them is that it easily collects any grease, oil or sweat from your skin, but that isn't exactly the fault of the headset now is it. You simply just need to wipe it down and you are good to go. The price tag is a bit high when not on Sale, but compared to other headsets with similar functions and features, it is cheaper and a better bang for your buck.
I hope you enjoyed my review of the Sennheiser HD 4.50 Bluetooth Wireless Headphones with Active Noise Cancellation.
