Is age of AI god or Artificial Religion is really coming?
There has been going on many advancements in the field of Artificial Intelligence but everything comes with some negative prospects too. Anthony Levandowski is a former employee of Google and Uber who has been working on a project, to create AI god. He is proclaiming to start a new religion called Way of the Future and it will be a non-profit organization.
I know you must be wondering that Artificial Intelligence is somewhat permissible, what the heck is now Artificial religion. This concept is not new to Tech Entrepreneurs who mostly believe in Singularity more, meaning "A time will come in near future when self-conscious machines will surpass humans". Main objective of this new religion would be to develop and promote the realization of a Godhead which will be based on artificial intelligence and worship of the Godhead contribution for the betterment of society.
Anthony has been currently facing legal lawsuit due to intellectual property theft. Even if he loses the battle for patents then there still many more who believe in Singularity and are not reluctant to join forces.
Stephan Hawking and many other physicists have stated many times that we are playing with fire in context with recent progress in AI. If you have seen movies like Terminator, Ex Machina, Transcendence etc then you would probably know that there are many chances of this science fiction horror to become reality.
I hope new accountability measures will be applied soon and more balance would be added for all new inventions, so we don't have to face technology apocalypse and look back in time with despair asking ourselves, how come we let this happen.
Nice post. Btw, I would recommend "Superintelligence: Path, Dangers and Strategies" by Nick Bostrom. Even though his view of super intelligence beings is quite linear (and I disagree with that since "intelligence" should be perceived in a more horizontal way as discussed in HERE and also HERE is a really good read), his way of classifying those beings into different categories and proposing strategies to counter them really hooked me up.

Thanks for the thoughts @bluemist. In my mind the AI God religion does not make sense. Even though machines may gain consciousness in time, they are still man made. Worshiping something because of fear or because of their superior knowledge or processing power or ability to make more of itself to capture human kind... that is not what religion is about. It would make more sense to worship the God that made us? ;) Computers might be smart already, but building hosting bodies that look and move like the ones in West World or Ex Machina... that will take a while.
I partially agree with you, AI is based on human brain. It is just a philosophical discussion that if you deny the consciousness of machines to be fake, then what about humans? but i agree that AI religion is stupid idea but a dangerous one.
Generally speaking humans on a large scale are very stupid in nature, they don't truly worship the real God, they just worship anything which benefits them, it can be money also but they just don't realize it yet.

Agreed that we are inherently selfish creatures that will 'worship' whatever makes us happy. That being said, we are definitely the crown of God's creation and I like to belief that we all have some good within us... let's use the machines to eradicate poverty and enhance human education. ;)

Great information. I agree that certain permissible structure must be defined for inventions . But it also raises another question. If in the past, people had really followed the lawful boundaries imposed, then we would not have the kind of modern comforts and securities we enjoy today. And it draws focus to my favourite conspiracy theory - We humans are perhaps the AI created by an advanced alien species. We too were given a God Head. And we went awry. We are the technological apocalypse !!! I truly have many facts to support it. :)
You got the right point that boundaries, limit inventions and ultimately new creations but a little balance should be maintained.
And about your interesting conspiracy theory, i think it will require a long direct conversation, maybe we'll use another instant medium for that.
