If I was more engineering-inclined, I'd build my own. It's been a dream of mine to construct and fly something like the Highwind (albeit much smaller) from Final Fantasy VII.
That's all I can think about whenever I see anything about airships. I want to fly around having adventures and fighting 7-foot-tall freaks with anime hair. Sadly, this will not happen in my lifetime. This makes me terribly depressed.
Well we will see about that. If you see an air ship outside your house one day, do not be alarmed; it's me, and we are going on a damn adventure.

There are indeed hobbyist clubs which built one man airships. It is more feasible to lift that amount of weight with a surprisingly modest gas bag than you might imagine. After all, every so often some hillbilly is in the news for rigging up helium weather balloons to a lawn chair.
