Chuck Johnson + James Damore Sue Digital Dictators Twitter + Google

A new battlefront is now open in the second week of 2018. Chuck Johnson and James Damore are suing the digital dictators doing business as Twitter and Google, respectively.

What's most encouraging about these legal moves is the environment in which Johnson and Damore find themselves in. Trump is the president. And, more importantly, Ajit Pai is chairing the FCC. He's liked my tweets on the subject of the social media giants silencing free speech.

Johnson received a permanent ban from Twitter for being taken out of context when he tweeted about the need to take out Black Lives Matter's head huckster Deray. This was incorrectly interpreted as a threat of physical violence using the mafia's preferred definition of the phrase.

Damore lost his job for making many "tough" and "strong" feminists of both sexes very uncomfortable when he outlined authoritarian groupthink plaguing Google and argued very simply that men and women may, just may, have some embedded natural differences. Tough luck if you count yourself among the other 767 sexual identities out there.

Though the courts in California are spotty, having a Supreme Court that leans right (if cases like these go that far) and an FCC that understands and abhors these abuses is great.

I'm not a lawyer, so I won't play one here. I'll say it looks like Damore could be receiving a quick, quiet and handsome settlement from Google, given the embarrassing evidence coming to light. For Johnson, I just don't know yet I'm glad he's finally bringing the case. It's a question of whether Twitter and its powerful siblings wielding monopolistic power should be classified as 21st century communication utilities.
