Paul Jacobs plans to buy Qualcomm
The former boss of US microprocessor manufacturer Qualcomm, Paul Jacobs, plans to buy the group, which has just escaped a hostile bid by its rival Broadcom, according to a statement released Friday.
Mr. Jacobs will not be reappointed to the Board of Directors during the vote scheduled at the general meeting of shareholders on March 23, announced Qualcomm.
A major supplier of Apple
"This follows the fact that he informed the board of its decision to explore the possibility of making a proposal to buy Qualcomm," he said.
One of Apple's main suppliers, with which it is also in conflict, Qualcomm weighs about 90 billion dollars on the stock market.
Mr. Jacobs, son of the founder of Qualcomm, was in the past chairman of the board and general manager of the group based in California (west).
"There can be no assurance that Mr. Jacobs will be able to make a proposal, but if he did, the board would consider it," he added.
This announcement is the last episode of the adventures that shake the group.
At least the original qualcomm founders are still making headlines.
