The issues users are suffering on iPad Pro 2017 (Aug 2017)

Having iPad Pro 2017 with you is exciting, it is powerful, eye catchy and improved. Yet there are issues keep on discovered by users among the community. It is very common and I personally observed the same things myself as well. In this story, I will briefly list out the issues so that you can pay attention to:

  1. The screen have yellow tint towards the edge near Home Button on 10.5"
    Many users found that their screen have a yellow tint in the area new the Home Button. It will not be very noticeable if you have True Tone on. What irritating is one day when you turn True Tone off and you found it, you will be upset. In my observation of more than 10 iPad Pros 10.5, the yellow tint area are there. If you see the yellow tint after using your iPad for a few days, you are affected. There are not much solution to this, even you request a replacement, it will still be like this.

  2. Screen looks uneven in color gradient
    This is similar to item 1 listed above, but it is more noticeable if you are working on design work, and this is reported in both 10.5 and 12.9 model. Holding it with your hand you will always see it uneven, but if you put your iPad on the floor, look at it and still see it, you are probably affected.

  3. iPad Pro do not wake up or no response when you try to wake it up be pressing Home Buttons
    As of iOS 10.3.3 and iOS 11 beta 5, the issue is still presence in 2 ways:
    a. The backlite of the LCD is not light up, you are able to see the screen is still on under bright light
    b. There whole iPad looks like turned off.
    This issue is probably a software issues but it is worth asking Apple support to see what is their recommendations.

  4. Dusts/Specks, reflective in silver, inside the glass of front screen area
    When examining whether dead pixels is present, dusts under screen glass is found and is very common. Sometimes it does not appear to be obvious but when you are using your iPad Pro outdoor, it is very easy to see it reflecting in silver. There is no fix to it as it is physical.

  5. Dusts/Specks inside the lens cover in the back camera
    This is similar to item 4, and it is related to back camera. Apple Store employees say if it will not affect the photos you take, they do not think it is defective. However, in my own tests, the photos shown will be less bright in certain area, especially when you print it out in poster size. Requesting Apple Store to clean the lens will not help - it is not defective in their view and thus they do not service it, and worse is if they clean it and are not able to remove them, there is no way to replace the lens cover. The camera lens is not replaceable and is part of the iPad Pro body.

  6. Sim tray is loose as it is another button
    It is just annoying to have 1 more useless "button". This might be able to relief by requesting a Sim Tray replacement, however it will not help much because the issue is both on the Sim Tray side, as well as the Body side.

  7. Reporting these issues to Apple Store staff is a pain
    While the above situation is rather common, employees including Expert in store do not care too much and often think you as are customers are demanding something unreasonable. While usually the quality of Apple product is good, telling them the product have somethings wrong in person is a pain. I recommend you make use of the Online Store in apple.com to order your iPad Pro so that you can return by simply printing out a shipping label and drop it to courier.
