A new invention: Infrared Wifi transmits 112 GB per second
Researchers at Eindhoven University of Technology have turned each infrared beam into a data channel that uses a frequency of about 200 terahertz, thousands of times the current wireless network's wireless signal, allowing for increased capacities. Amount of transmission.
Professor Ton Koonen adds that they have now reached a transfer rate of 112 GB, which allows the upload of three high quality movies in just one second.
To ensure connectivity as the user moves, the center antenna mounted on the ceiling emits multiple wavelengths in different directions. Each antenna emits a separate wavelength and only one electronic device connected to it, this ensures transmission speed due to not shared storage.
The way to transmit infrared beams to electronic devices by radio signal feedback helps to save energy while enhancing the security of the system due to non-penetrating light.
Researchers hope the technology will be replicated in the next five years.
