Reining the Tech Titans

Life is almost incomprehensible for some of us tech junkies without our Amazon Web Servers, our Google Search Engine and our Facebook updates. Truly, in this globalized era not enjoying services from Amazon, Apple, Facebook and Google is like limping with one leg. We can live without them, but heck living without them would be such a pain as they make our lives much more convenient. However, there has been growing concerns whether they have become to big for as they say, their own boots.

There have been numerous complaints against these tech giants varying from dissemination of fake news to monopolistic behavior. Some are even ringing the alarm bells regarding their terrabytes of data collected from customers. These are true and relevant concerns that we have yet to get resolution and we need to act sooner rather than later.

So what do we need to do, you ask? Well if I have know how ti fix this, I would have marched to their offices and demand it be done but here I am writing about it. Lest we forget that the reason these beasts of technology are in their positions solely because we've let them. What they merely are doing is providing a sucessful solution to consumers needs. They give us what we want, and we get it. We collectively decided that the services they offer are worth the tiny price they are charging or that annoying ads that keeping popping up ( whose slowly but surely becomes more and more accurate on giving us advertisements on what we are interested in ).

One has to think that if us, being the consumer and our consumer demands along with our ignorance really did create a monster, then the answer lies in self restraint and knowledge so that we can, so to speak tame it. There was a 2006 Time magazine cover stating YOU as the person of the year, and that holds true in solving this problem to quote Time magazine it reads : You control the information age, Welcome yo YOUR world.

That may seem like a big task for one single person, but remember that the ocean is made up of single drops of water and together they make up more than 70% of the earth surface.

TLDR. To control or at least tame the Techonology Giants everyone must do their best to let them know we want our privacy and we still want the services you offer.
