After watching the movie, it moved me so much that I was able to make this art work.

Synopsis:

The movie's setting is during Dia de los Muertos or the Day of the Dead. The movie depicts the Mexican culture and traditions. During this day, living relatives place pictures of their dead relatives in the ofrenda, an altar-like set up where photos of dead relatives are placed together with the things and foods they like.

When photos of the dead are placed in ofrendas, they can cross the flower bridge, visit and have a reunion with their living relatives for a day, bringing back the things and foods offered to them to the Land of the Dead when the day of the dead ends where they stay. This happens every year. The movie involves a character named Miguel who is the great great grandson of a well known local shoemaker, Imelda who was married to a faceless character since she ripped of the head from the picture because of her bitterness. You see his husband left her and her only daughter, Coco, and went out to run after his dreams of being musician and never returned.

After being abandoned, she banned music for her entire life and focused on making shoes until she taught her daughter and her son-in-law, and eventually her grandchildren. The legacy was passed on up to Miguel's time. But deep in his heart, Miguel believed that he was born as a musician but can't pursue his dreams because of his family. His family believed that Music is a curse because it was the reason why their great great grand father abandoned. Only to find out his great great father was a musician after all. Follow Miguel's adventure as he explores the Land of the Dead together with his new found friend, Hector to find out his true identity and the importance of family and remembering the memories of our ancestors and keeping those memories alive up to the next generations.

I watched the movie twice but it had the same effects on me the second time. The part where Coco's father sang her the song he composed just for her moved me to bucket of tears. 😢😭 Remember Me speaks of a father's heart longing to be reminisced even after being apart from his beloved daughter for a long time, even after death.

Even as I write this, emotions are constantly stirred in my heart. The movie made me realize that everyone is fleeting, we will never know when our time would be up. So let's not take the people we love for granted because we may still see them today, but we do not hold the future. We won't know when would be the last time we'll see them. Don't be ashamed of proclaiming your love to your loved ones, to your parents, siblings, relatives no matter the circumstance because we don't know when they'll be gone.

This is is a must watch movie! It is suitable for all ages 😊 Watch it together with your loved ones. God bless you

XOXO,
Hazelwink 😉
