Update on the drought that has gripped our country
Last year sometime i wrote an article on the terrible drought we have experience in South Africa and exactly one year later
so much has change.
Here is the article if any of you wants to read it: https://steemit.com/teamsouthafrica/@rogerblu/update-on-our-worst-drought-in-cape-town
Today I'm pleased to say our countries is out of the drought status with much of our dams nearing the level of full.
Agri-Sa has indicated that our drought has resulted in 30 000 job losses not to mention the R7 Billion in lost turnover.
The drought has certainly hit us hard, has a country with some still feeling the effects of it months later and possibly years later as well.
Our deciduous fruit for which we are known for right across the world has also been affected by this drought with many farmers having to to lay off many workers leaving many families without income.
Just some areas that were affected by the drought were our tourism sectors seeing a decline in bookings by as much as 10 to 15% . Our countries staple diet which consist of maize also increased by more than 34% which caused many to spend more to buy it.
Its seem as if the worst is over for us as South Africans as our Dams levels has seen major increase compared to the same time last year which is such a welcome relief for many.
Our dams level has shown a significant increase compared to 2018 what relief!!!
I don't remember when last i actually seen some sun.
Thanks for taking the time out to read my article.
Until we chat again
