PART 1 Team Malaysia Sabah Steemit Harvest Festival Family Gathering

It was a cool windy night when members from the #teammalaysia Sabah gather at a small town called Penampang to held the Harvest Festival or we called it Kaamatan Festival. This festival is celebrated by all Malaysian, but specifically to Sabahans. The ethnic group in Sabah is more than 40 over tribes; where there are located spread all around Sabah region.

In the old days, the month of May has become bountiful harvest for our rice in Sabah (Although, there is a story behind it). Nonetheless, its about happy, joy, celebration, sharing harvest together in the village. Fast forward to now, the celebration has evolved to a bigger scale, bigger space, and greater length. As I mentioned before the whole month of May is the Festival, in Kota Kinabalu itself, being the Capital City, 30th and 31st of May will be Finale Celebration, other smaller district will celebrate their own celebration earlier and choose their Beauty Queen Pagent (Unduk Ngadau) and sent them to the finale in the City. This celebration is no jokes, local food, and drinks, often westerners will see as October Fest in their definition. However, Sabah being a melting pot of cultures and language, it is truly best to visit Sabah during this month.
