Blessings to be thankful for before CNY

As Chinese New Year fast approaches I thought to myself that it's high time i posted something on my blog so here goes.

Considering that I had to finish my degree course a semester later than my peers, most young aspiring uni students would have been viewed as failures (great job asian cultures) and have low confidence based on their results (don't ask for my cgpa, I'm an engineering graduate 😝).

However months leading up to my last semester with my fellow course mates, my church pastor has been pushing for me

not to derive one's sense of worth on personal accomplishments which are temporal but in an identity given by Jesus which is eternal.

And so armed with that mindset and the comfort of the Holy Spirit I went about tackling my final semester of repeats feeling a tad bit better about myself.
By the end of my semester I decided that I wanted to arm myself with more financial knowledge knowing full well that university has ill equipped engineers with financial literacy (my favorite class was How to be a Millionaire, said no one ever).

And so i set out on what would become a 9 month hiatus of learning the in and outs of loans, fixed deposits, compund interests and the like with guidance from helpful senior church members (thanks guys!). Not too long into that "last semester break with no end in sight" (thankful to have parents willing and able to support you while you try to figure out how to adult) friends began badgering me to "get my cv uploaded to jobstreet" & "send out 30 resumes daily" because the economy was going downhill making jobs harder and harder to get.

Turning to God left me with the super natural assurance that

Job will be there when you need it
With the implication being a job i would not dislike

With that i put such concerns begind me and continued to learn about cryptocurrencies as i believed that it would be the future of technology (yes i got in on the Bitcoin train late 🤓)

Finally after my convocation in September 2017 i decided it was time to start raking in the cash so that i may finally put my knowledge to use.
I sent out 2 resumes, got interviewed for both and decided to pick the later one (which looking back was probably a God guided decision as i had 2 friends in there who told me it was hell for the first 6 months).which was a small company that dealt with automation for water treatment plants.

Being in this small (completely chinese) company is indeed very fun as the pressure from learning how work is done isn't overwhelming, the people here are nice and the boss makes it a point to reward his employees with big bonuses, long leaves during Chinese New Year and isn't too fussy about what you do during office hours as long as projects are completed (within reasonable limits of course, seniors have been seen playing Dota and FIFA when there aren't any pressing projects to finish up) all that i could ask for in a first job exactly as I was promised .

With that I'll end this long essay of thankfulness.
