Recently, the trend of bullying has been all over the media. When I was a child, I honestly thought that being pinched by another girl at Kindergarten was normal! Now, it is termed as bullying. A couple of days ago, my daughter was subject to such an act. No, not bullying or being pinched. She had inadvertently cut another student while lining up to go somewhere. As a result, the boy who was one year older to her, scratched her face and hand and pushed her. Is this bullying or a mere act at the heat of the moment?
Of course, I was angry but I also had the opportunity to find out why the boy had acted the way he had. Apparently, things were not so rosy at home and he had been lacking quite a lot of attention from his parents. That makes one think doesn't it? The core of the problems stems from the parents? We are the one the child emulates as we are the ones as parents who are the biggest influences in their lives.
However, that does not permit the child to act as he did because the boy needs to understand that this kind of behavior is unacceptable. It is very stressful being a parent in today's day and age isn't it?
