Kadazandusun Native of Sabah, Land Below The Wind

in #teammalaysia7 years ago

Sitting at the beranda, too much advanced information of my life in a modern era, forgetting about the pass.

I still remember, while in a kampung, most of my weekend night was sitting and talking with my elders, story telling about my root and life before us in the blessed land of Sabah.

A story I want to share which I refer through written history about Kadazandusun.

A word "Kadayan @ Kadazan" as God created and divine spirited people and considering in Dusun terms, in essence "Stewards of the Land" with diversity farms and "gardens in the forest". Combining "Kadazandusun" define the meanings and purposes as "divine-human stewards of the land practicing bio-diversity agronomy" - The Kadazandusun Resolution 1 (1989).

In August 1961, The first Kadazan National Congress held in Jesselton Community Center debated and voted to resolve that word "Kadazan" is a generic identity of numerous native Dusunic, Paitanic, Idahan, Murutic ethnics and numbers of sub ethnics and speech communities.

On that day, Muruts are Kadazans, for the sake of unity of being the foremost indigenous people of Sabah (North Borneo) and sharing more similarities than differences in worldviews, cosmology, adat and the way we relate to mother nature, it will unjust for us to negate and disrespect the wisdom of our visionary leaders and wise elders, and after hours of debate and deliberations during the National Kadazan Congress, resolved by overwhelming majority votes that Muruts too are "Kadazans".

In 1995, during the Kadazandusun Language Resolution, Kadazandusun is the Official Name of the Language of the Kadazandusuns (Jan 24, 1995). The "Bunduliwan" is the Official Dialect of the Kadazandusun Language (April 11, 1995).

Later, The Kadazandusun Resolution 2, The KDCA (Kadazan Dusun Cultural Association) Delegates Conference held on Dec 4-5 2004 debated and unanimously tabled Conference Resolution 2, worded in Bahasa as follows;

"Bahawa Kerajaan Malaysia hendaklah menerima pakai nama "Kadazandusun" sebagai nama bangsa masyarakat itu di dalam semua keterangan diri (Sijil Kelahiran, Kad Pengenalan dan sebagainya) dan bukannya menggunakan samada "Kadazan" atau "Dusun", kerana sesungguhnya dua nama itu merujuk kepada suku bangsa yang sama"

The KDCA constitution, in Article 6 (1) defines the Kadazandusuns as the definitive indifenous peoples of Sabah comprising the dialectical ethnic groups;
"Bisaya, Bonggi, Bundu, Dumpas, Gana, Garo, Ida'an, Kadayan, Kimaragang, Kolobuan, Kuijau, Lingkabau, Liwan, Lobu, Lotud, Lundayo, Makiang, Malapi, Mangkaak, Minokok, Murut, Nabai, Paitan, Pingas, Rumanau, Rungus, Sinobu, Sinorupu, Sonsogon, Sukang, Sungei, Tatana, Tangara, Tidong, Tindal, Tobilung, Tolinting, Tombonuo, Tuhawon, Tutung"

Sabahan refers to "Born in Sabah" of mother nature.

Sabahan culture are unique. We are most related, in other pass generations, open to anyone as Malaysian.

Proud as Sabahan, which we know our history, understand, respect and uphold the wisdom of our pioneer leading elders, god given blessings and dignity in humanity.
