Ketupat
Ketupat, a Malay delicacy traditionally prepared rice cubes wrapped in coconut leaves, normally served along side with either beef rendang or chicken rendang or even more commonly seen served with satay.
To eat it, you must first unwrap the coconut leaves and eat the rice cubes within it. Due to the rice is cooked in boiling water, it absorbs the coconut flavors from it coconut leaves wrappings. If eaten on its own, you will experience the usual taste of white rice, followed by a leafy coconut flavor in the after taste.
Normally in a complete meal, ketupat is eaten along side with chicken or beef rendang, satay , or simply dip it into the curry, sambal or the peanut sauce that comes along as a dip sauce for satay, together with onions and cucumber slices.
