just want to say, i don't know anything about teamgirlpowa rules :D but I enjoyed reading your post, all those tragic stories and destinies, and connections to all those important historic figures..i'm just amazed, and envy you having such ancestors :)
and one more thing, don't get discouraged if you don't get expected reception or harsh comments, steemit is sometimes frustrating place, but definitely worth of being here and trying :)

Such a :( and deep history you have. Best of luck for the rest of your family life. The pictures scenes are so interesting realizing the past and its beauty. We are killing each other with the sword of Jealousy

Your connection to Anna Karenina, and your collection of photos, are simply fantastic! You've given us more links to follow up on - Zoe Obolensky; Proof that Czechoslovakia once belonged to Austria;
Schloss Ernestgrün; an entire book wouldn't begin to cover it all. Oh, and I love the Blake reference in @tygertyger (burning bright!). Thank you for this fascinating look at your heritage. You end with a triumph --my grandmother made it in America brought her kids there, provided for them and ensured they had an education--and a poignant conclusion: However she never forgot L and never loved again. Wow! I see a TV mini-series or movie in the making here.

Thank you for your kind words.

Since 1980 I've entertained scenes for a novel about a Russian teenager who gets swept up in the Revolution and witnesses a beheading, but never did write it, because the research would overwhelm me. Your Zoe sounds much like the heroine who's dwelled in my imagination (perhaps I heard about her in 1980 but didn't remember the name?). The novel I did write (1990-1999) is set in my own familiar world, a farm in the Midwest, but a parent's disappointment in the child who lived must be universal. Expectations, judgments, cloud our vision--and so we fail to see the treasure that we could never have planned or dreamed up ourselves. It's like the best Christmas present ever, let's say a diamond necklace, but you'd asked for a pearl necklace and never got it, so you hate the diamonds. How can people be so unreasonable, so ungrateful? You've set me off in a million directions, @tygertyger, reminding me of story after story. Again, thank you for sharing yours. The burning house, the dying mother, the soldier rescuing the baby girl with the icons - already, you've painted unforgettable images in my head, and everlasting feelings! (I want to forget the Collie they shot--the "last straw," salt in the wound, too horrible to contemplate)

Zoe's part of the story was before the revolution. She had become disenchanted by the abuse of power and decadence of her social class. She was no teenager actually but a young woman nevertheless . She travelled many places and held a home and parlour full of artists writers and revolutionaries far away from her strict, conservative husband. He petitioned the zar to freeze her immense fortune , which was her own not their shared, to force her home. When that did not work he tried to kidnap her ... he wanted to lock her in an asylum or convent thankfully she was smart and always got away ...

Woooooowww!! Wish i knew that much!! Unfortunately im not sure we can accept it as we made those rules about three sources. Unless you can reference two more sources.. im not sure i understamd the family tree one.. but its a great story!!! And amazing women!

I thought the hotel one was one as it is a historical site and the family tree is a reference because it shows that I am telling the truth it's my grandmothers family tree ( should be a valid historical reference as it is a russian genealogy site ) ... let me know what sources you need and it is most likely not a problem to add them ... I can always throw in one about Cousin Lev and Peter Kropotkin if that helps ...

Hi there @tygertyger if you can obtain the sources that would be great! It is part of the rules and we would love to not have to decide between someone who has their sources opposed to someone who does not, especially if we love your work. I can’t wait to read your entry! Good luck!

I hope this helps,

It also mentions in writing not only photos in the link I sent. Also if you have more questions on sourcing, check out steemcleaners posts, they have quite a bit of info.
