I'm enjoying HF19 but its a double edge sword
I'm enjoying Hard Fork 19, and the power of my upvote is now worth something more. So I did a few upvotes and noticed the power I know have and couldn't stop smiling.
But I quickly noticed that over several upvotes my voting power was less and less. So I started at 100% and by the 7th vote I was down to 88%. My first vote was about $1.00 and by the last it was giving about $0.70. So now even though I could get great returns on my effort in creating content, I have to work even harder to get my followers to use their first 100% upvote for the day on my post, instead of having to pray for a whale to see my content.
So for all the minnows that are new and are following me. Your voting power increases over 24 hours. So keep your upvotes numbers small, and if you see a good post you like but run out of voting power for the day. You can also wait to the next day and give the post your 100% voting power. So you don't loose that post always comment, you can always find it later.
My full power upvote is worth $4.
I have to get out of the habit of hitting 100%, or I'm going to only be able to do half an hour of curating every day.
Even if my vote is only $0.01 it's still a vote of confidence for you. I only ever vote on things that I feel are valuable to me and other readers. So my upvote means I found your post to be of high quality, not "I need another penny".
Thanks @timeshiftarts. I put that in the post, as some steemians (like myself) enjoy giving a good upvote. As we all know a good post has had effort into creating it and deserves a good upvote. So if I find a post I want to give 100% too and don't have the power to do so at that time, I can wait 24 hours.
Ya. I feel like the rest of this week upvotes might be slow, after catching up to everyone.. we all will have to get our voting power back! And voting bots all need to be reconfigured, etc
funny I thought it was 5 days to fully recharge?!
When I was at 45% it took about 3 days, but keeping my votes to a minimum. But when I drain my voting power down to about 85%-90% it takes about 24 hours. This website show voting power in percentage there are other websites that show your voting power.
My mind hasn't yet adapted to looking at upvotes from the perspective of the voting power. You're right about rewarding good posts. Great post!

hahaha. upvoting with the power of a minnow is a strategy of planing, until I get enough power and the slider is enabled to adjust how much vote power I can spread to each post.

Where do you find the select voting power button? Or does it only appear once you have some more Steem?
I was told that once you have 50% that's when the power adjuster is enabled so you can adjust your voting power. I don't know exactly as I haven't seen it yet.
You mean when you drained your power to 50% only then it allows to adjust it? That's strange.
no someone mentioned something about steem power. As your power increases as you become a whale, you can adjust the upvote percentage you are willing to give. As a video of a guy showing hf19 turned his standard upvote from a few cents at 100% to over $7.
