Tasman meats are dying their steaks

Caution peeps Tasman Meats dyes their meat. I was filleting some scotch fillet steak for Tahlia and the inside of the meat is different to the outside.

Doesn't mean anything is wrong with it however dying meat gives it the false appearance of being fresh.

Meat should be the same consistency all the way through.

As the outside of the steak is bright pink indicating it is fresh the inside is a darker colour.

I'm not sure if woolies or other chains do this but I think I'll be heading back to the local butchers.

They all do it here in Canada too. Right under the cellophane its bring red and when you cut in its dead through and through. If it's not gray green you're in luck.
