Team Australia - Australia Day Antics (SELFIE + WRITING CHALLENGE)
Aussie Aussie Aussie... Oi Oi Oi! 🇦🇺
Australia Day, 26 January, is the day to reflect on what it means to be Australian, to celebrate contemporary Australia and to acknowledge our history.
On Australia Day we celebrate all the things we love about Australia: land, sense of fair go, lifestyle, democracy, the freedoms we enjoy but particularly our people.
Australia Day is about acknowledging and celebrating the contribution that every Australian makes to our contemporary and dynamic nation. From our Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people - who have been here for more than 65,000 years - to those who have lived here for generations, to those who have come from all corners of the globe to call our country home.
The marking of 26 January is an important date in Australia's history and has changed over time: starting as a celebration for emancipated convicts and evolving into what is now a celebration of Australia that reflects the nation's diverse people.
Australia Day continues to be hugely popular, with 3 in 4 Australians believing it has a bigger meaning beyond being just a day off.
More than half of all Australians participate in Australia Day attending events organised by State Governments, local councils, community groups or getting together with family and friends. In addition, over 16,000 new Australians become citizens on Australia Day.

Just please be clear on contest rules and make sure to include appropriate title and hashtags in correlation to which contest you are entering. Also, to be clear, you CAN enter both :)
The winner will be announced during the week following Australia Day. Gives us some time to look through all the entries and also recover from any Aussie Day antics.
Make sure to post your links in the comments of this post when completed.
You have a week until Australia Day, so get brainstorming and posting! 🧐
Thank you and Goodluck!
Mate, I'm so Aussie every day is a fuckin bludge. I wake up, chuck on a singlet, grab me thongs, down a beer and head to centrelink before hitting the beach for some waves.
Seriously though, I'm a pastie white ginger who'd rather paint digital art than watch the footy... pretty sure I'm from another planet let alone a typical Aussie. I do like a beer, a bong and a coupla lamingtons though 😆
Hahahaha I think this would make a good quality write up and selfie!
Just be mindful of what you post 😜😎
You mean be mindful about lamingtons? The government has withheld medical lamingtons and the truth about them for decades! Many people have gone to jail or lost jobs and disrupted their lives just because people enjoy the safer option of lamingtons over other far less healthy baked goods. Australia is way behind many other countries on this subject even though we have the right temperatures to bake the best god damn lamingtons I've ever tasted (Amsterdam also makes good lamingtons 😄).
Legalise the Lammy! 😉
hahaha oh man!
I live in South Australia, we have a lot of good lamington factories! Amsterdam even sells our snacks!
I agree with you, there are lots of benefits from eating the flakes but it's not always good to enjoy the whole thing! This is a topic for another day 😂😵
Hahaha yeah man for sure! A lot of my family hail from Adelaide even if I do live in North QLD I still have mad respect for Adelaide and the lammies that are baked down there too 😄
Welcome to Adelaide, capital of Bogunsville.
As long as you don't inhale. That coconut will scratch you up bad.
I'm so Australian that when the discord thing started giving me shit I just went back to watching midget porn like everyone else.
I'm not totally whipped by all this new age PC bullshit but I do reserve the right to threaten someone with a thong if they don't smoke the same cigarettes as me or drink the same beer.
If I blow out a plugga then the gloves really come off. No bastard can tell me I don't have the right to steal a garden gnome from someone's front yard on a Saturday night if no-one is watching. The F,ing things have been following me home since I was almost old enough to drink .
I can speak bogan in almost every regional dialect this country has to offer., except for some of the new age ones I haven't been trained in.
I've even been locked up in three states and one territory, I'm still working on the others, but I'm sure I''l get there if I travel enough.
Advance oztraya fair !
😄😄😄
Man, people seem more revved up for @gohba.handcrafts bogan write-up than anything else!
This is going to be an interesting read! I strongly encourage you to enter @khufu 😜✌🏼
Awesome idea, will post a selfie for sure.
Sweet! Looking forward to it :)
Good one. I might have a crack at the writing challenge.
Yes! Looking forward to seeing your post 🙌🏼
I've been thinking about it and it's very difficult to write about our history without it turning into a controversial political post. I'll do my best.
History is not controversial. It happened. End of.
How we deal with the present and the future, now that can lead to some controversial stuff.
Australia Day - 26th January, no changes, no wowsers.
oooh the 'P' word.
I'm sure you'll do great!
Ok, it's out there.
Australia Day Writing Challenge - A Dark History With A Bright Future
Hope you like it. It's from the heart.
Thanks for being so open and honest!
Quality post! 💕🙌🏼
Thanks. You're keeping us all in suspense?
Sorry mate it's been a challenge weekend/start to the week. Haven't really been 'online' much.
Alrighty then, Queensland will try to come in out of the sun long enough to get with the program. The sun plays havoc with the laptop screen lol . oi oi oi!
My whole life is melting in this Adelaide weather today! Need to hide indoors 😵
Well that sucks... All that heat and none of the benefits of a sub-tropical location. I'd be writing a strongly worded letter to my local member for Parliament!
aussie come on
C'mon Aussie c'mon! 😜🙌🏼
I'm keen. My view on Australia day has changed over the years so I'll have a think about how I can put that into words :)
Plenty of time to whip up a post! Deadline by the end of Aus Day :)
Great idea, I mainly make videos. Is there a video challenge as well?
Great question! Unfortunately not for this particular challenge. Maybe we will do a video challenge later in the year 😄
haha awesome. I'll see if I can pull together a selfie before then
Sounds good! Looking forward to seeing your entry 🙂

A really strong and eye-opening post! It is tragic how we deal with conflict, and I feel like we're not improving. I think I'll be joining you in isolation for my own spiritual benefit...
Thanks for your submission! Winner announced next week 🙂
