Florida Tax Collector To Start Accepting Bitcoin Payment
In collaboration with bitcoin payments processor known as BitPay, a tax collector in Florida County is about to start accepting cryptocurrency as a form of payments for different types of services. The tax collector from Seminole County, Joel Greenberg made a statement when he was being interviewed on Monday. He said his office will accept bitcoin as well as bitcoin cash for property tags, drivers licenses and ID cards, and automobile titles and tags associated payments. He said that the main reason his office decided to start accepting cryptocurrency is to make an effort to organize fee collection, decrease fraud and identity theft occurrences, and increase the clarity and precision of payments. Joel Greenberg’s office added that do not feel accepting cryptocurrency as payment for services will cause any risk for the county, or bring about price buoyancy.

Greenberg said in a statement:
“The mission of my administration is to offer our customers a more efficient, faster, and a smarter experience. I also aim to integrate the government office from the 18th century into the present 21st century by adopting the use of cryptocurrency as a form of payment”.
Bitpay's first government partnership ever was with the Seminole County Tax Collector. Jeremie Beaudry, the head of compliance said: “We started the company because we know blockchain can transform the financial industry, make payments more secure and faster, and also make payments less expensive”.
He further added that: “we have made our number one government agency, which is to accept bitcoin and bitcoin cash. All of which was possible because of the tax collector's office in Seminole county”.
Nevertheless, other local government entities like Georgia and Arizona lawmakers also entertained the idea of accepting cryptocurrency as a form of tax payment. They even proposed a bill that will allow people pay their tax with cryptocurrency, but none of the bills made it through their governmental body.
The advantage of bitcoin payment is, the commission practically does not depend on the amount transferred or on the location of the sending and receiving parties. Often transactions are free. The Commission requires only in the formation of technical transactions that may damage the networks, since they can not be resolved. Also, there is no monthly fee, limits and other restrictions. I feel this is a great step useful for Florida people, which will inspire the other communities also.

This is really good news. Businesses accepting them is good, but government entities accepting has to be considered a move in the right direction. Hopefully it catches on!
