In a wonderful landscape called "Lala Caldarea" where you can see the Ineu Peak (the second peak as altitude in the Carpathian Mountains, after the Pietrosu Peak), which dominates the whole area, and down the valley, Lake Lala is the largest lake glacier from the Rodna Mountains with over 5637.5 sq m, at 1815 m altitude. At a slightly higher altitude there is Lake Lala Mic. It is part of the mixed reservation "Ineu-Lala", and also in the scientific reserve "Bila-Lala". In this area there are another 23 glacial lakes.

From Lala Mic Lake is formed Raul Lala, which, along with other nearby springs, is a tributary of the Bistrita Auria River. Lala Mic and Lala Mare are "connected" by this river that forms a waterfall between the two lakes.

Route (From Singeorz-Bai): DN 17 D to Rodna and Sant. From there, you walk on a forest road marked with a square and a blue cross inside to the Valea Blaznei tourist area, then to the Cobasel, Rosu and Ineut peaks, then continue to Ineu Peak, at the foot of which is Lake Lala Mare .

The fauna and flora in the lake's perimeter is very rich: you can also find specimens of mountain lizards, birch cocoons, cockroaches and mountain eagles. The mammal species are about the same as those found in the rest of the Carpathian areas - black goats, carpathian deer, bears, wolves, or marmots. Trouts are not missing from Lala Mare. The tourists can see the rhododendrons, the plant quite rare, on the neighboring swampy places, a series of glacial relics such as the horn and the yellow gentian.
