Merkaba Tattoo Coverup
"Tattoos have a built-in charge consisting of intention, emotion, symbol, and color. They go deeper than other vibrational therapies used, like healing crystals, color therapy, essential oils, or flower essences that you apply and then put away. Tibetans tattooed mantra wheels on the chakras to foster spiritual and physical health. This was done mindfully and with great respect for the hidden power in the tattoos, which act as an applied vibration into the body." - Lisa Barretta #ConsciousInk The Hidden Meaning of Tattoos
Recently I was given an interesting challenge: to do a cover up of an old tattoo on a young and upcoming hip hop artist's head. I immediately recognized the tattoo as a "toxic scar." A toxic scar is an energetic wound in need of healing, that involves or is linked to a physical wound when the wound was initially inflicted. In addition to being "regrettable tattoos", coverups are often toxic wounds. Therefore, the challenge is two fold: 1- to visually cover or hide the old tattoo, and 2- to heal the energetic and emotional wounding that was consciously or unconsciously inflicted on the person wearing it.
My challenge in this case was high. I have learned over the years not to go into my head to solve such a problem as this kind of thing can only be solved by the heart. If I went into my head, I would have been bombarded with thoughts like: "this is impossible"! Instead, I sat back and looked at the old tattoo to be covered with a soft gaze, without judgement and guided by my feelings that began to stir in response. After a short while, I saw the star tetrahedron superimposed over the old tattoo.I had no choice where to put it because of the placement of the old tattoo, so I mapped it out. The Merkaba fit perfectly!
It is interesting how a few days later when showing the cover up to my osteopath client, she said that the placement was energetically perfectly placed (over the confluence of sinuses or Sutherland's Fulcrum). This points to my belief that nothing is by accident, and in this case if the old tattoo was not placed where it was then I may not have placed it there. Was this star tetrahedron destined to go here? I feel it is so!
The star tetrahedron or "Merkaba" is a sacred and healing symbol.
Merkabah, also spelled Merkaba, is told to be the divine light vehicle allegedly used by ascended masters to connect with and reach those in tune with the higher realms. "Mer" means Light. "Ka" means Spirit. "Ba" means Body.
