Stay away from tourist traps:) Ammazing meat feast in Amman (Jordan).
When it comes to food, I like to apply the Jobs rule "simplicity is the ultimate sophistication". It works when someone has great ingredients and knows recipes for his/her country traditional cuisine.
We had a pleasure to visit Amman in Jordan last month (February 2019). It's a great country in the Levant, part of the Arab world, most known for, inter alia, Petra and Wadi Rum.
Photos are from a hidden gem we found near the Amman’s Roman Theatre. The place is both a butchery and restaurant where mostly local people go eat, it’s called “Zahret Al Madaen Restaurant & Butchery”.
Meat is the main star here. Menu has barely 8 positions and it’s visible on the wall, above the butcher's heads 😊 Our dish was served with onions, big green chilis, tomatoes and Arabic bread. We order a kind of shashliks (pieces of meat on the stick separated by onions).
If your using Google maps, the place is quite easy to find. From the street, you can see butchery behind the window and meat lying around. Bottom floor is a place where you place an order. Upstairs is the actual restaurant.
