Tocabe is an American Indian Eatery serving up some of the greatest food in Denver, Colorado. It was featured on Guy Fieri's Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives and I decided to give it a try while I was visiting Denver for a few Disco Biscuits shows.
I started off the meal with a cup of Iko's Green Chile Stew. It was deliciously warming with chunks of meat, corn, and spicy green chiles. Definitely some of the best chile stew I've ever had.
Next I had some Fry Bread Nuggets. These were small bites of fluffy fry bread tossed in powdered sugar. An absolute delight to pop in your mouth. They are freshly made, served nice and hot. The fry bread was incredibly light and airy. This is a must try, when you stop by.
For the main event, I ordered a Native American Indian Taco. It consisted of a flat piece of fry bread, topped with braised and shredded bison meat, lettuce, tomato, onion, cheddar cheese, osage hominy and sweet corn salsa and then some sour cream and ancho-chipotle sauce. As you can see in the photo below, this thing was amazing.
Tocabe is a place I will always visit when I am in Denver, despite the plethora of amazing food in town. They had incredible service and the food is always amazing. I've been to Tocabe a few times and I am always wanting more. The food is fresh and the flavors are out of this world. I highly recommend it if you find yourself in Denver, Colorado.
