Hard Fork | Talk Show | Season 01 | Getting India started on Crypto and Blockchain
Unfair beginnings
India has had its fair share of highs and lows when it comes to cryptocurrency and blockchain. Crypto had a free run in India sine 2015 and it came to a slow down from the month of April 2018, since the Central Bank laid out a moratorium on the banks to stop providing services to crypto related businesses and transactions.
This banking ban hit the industry hard; but contrary to perception, the Indian crypto and blockchain industry is doing phenomenal work and there are many projects from India which are getting world recognition.
The people, the community and the work needed a platform beyond the regional and city meetups and the YouTubes of the world! This slowdown should not be misconstrued as inaction and perceived as “nothing happening in India”!
Something to challenge the status quo
Hard Fork, as every crypto and Blockchain proponent would know, is a split or change in the main chain of a cryptocurrency. It normally happens in two cases:
- When the main needs an upgrade or drastic change in its setting, so much so that it deviates from the norm. The old main chain ceases to exist and new one gets created.
- When someone questions the status quo of the main chain and creates another strain in mostly defiance (let’s put aside the need for greed and egos out of the way here)
This is exactly what we want to do.
- We believed that the Indian crypto and Blockchain space needed a paradigm shift in outlook
- We believed we had to question the current state of affairs and work towards making a crypto and Blockchain inclusive society.
Nothing else fitted best!
What we want to achieve
With this talk show we wanted to raise awareness, inspire learning, showcase achievements, discover innovations, provide advocacy, find solutions, and answer questions about Blockchain and Cryptocurrencies. Basically get people to talk about everything in general and specifics about cryptocurrencies and Blockchain.
