Travelling to Sydney & The Blue Mountains
My girlfriend and I boarded our flight to Sydney, for a week of around the city fun and exploration. The plane ride was a short 4 and a half hours, we entertained ourselves by playing the game Banished, learning sign language (inspired by seeing the movie 'A Quiet Place'), and watching Young Sheldon.
Our first day saw us driving to The Blue Mountains, named after the blue haze seen at a distance, due to the abundance of eucalyptus trees. We periodically passed signs declaring our altitude above sea level. Nothing too special, the highest point is 1,215 meters or 3,986 feet. That's 4,165 meters (13,614 feet) lower than Everest Base Camp.
We first stopped in the small valley hidden town of Leura, a cute little area with shops and cafes. My girlfriend and I bought some cakes from the bakery before heading for lunch at Leura Cascades, a small waterfall and picnic area.
Next up was The Three Sisters, an unusual rock formation with a very picturesque view of the Blue Mountain Range:
Cheers for reading, more Sydney posts to come...
