Investing in Fruit Trees

What better way to invest in your future than buying fruit trees??? They take a year or so to bear fruit, but then they provide fresh produce for decades to come!
Last year I purchased and planted 2 peach, 2 pear, and one plum tree. This year I got 2 more plums, 3 Granny Smith apples and one more pear.
Next year I'll purchase and plant a few more! And maybe even start grafting from the ones I have already.

wow amazing!!! Where do you live?

Thx! Living In Vermont

We started adding to the orchard that came with the property and have added to it every year. It is beginning to pay off but it requires so much work learning how to take care of them all.
Yesterday: The peach tree had so much fruit that the branches were bent over so we went out and did some thinning. Imagine having too much fruit that you need to thin the trees! and how do we treat the hanging branches?

This year we are getting a lot of cherries. We will try to dehydrate some to add to the granola.
We have had a few apricots each year.
One pear a year. This year we added another kind for cross pollination.
The almond tree is full of nuts! How to harvest them is the next issue.
The plum tree is 3 years old now and may produce some fruit!

The walnut trees are growing and will probably begin to produce after we are gone.

The problem is beginners, even though we are geezers, having to keep at it each day and learn what real producers have learned from experience.

Can I add a tag here for #oldtimers

Love it! That's what kids should grow up doing too! My peach trees are loaded now too, fresh peaches every day :)
